Columbia Memorial Stair Climb – “A Climb to Honor the Fallen”

The 2^nd Annual Columbia Memorial Stair Climb will take place on Saturday, May 5th, to honor the 422 first responders who died in the line of duty on 9-11-2001. The World Trade Center stood 110 stories high, and participants climb the equivalent of this during the event.

“Every registered climber is actually climbing for an individual that was killed on 9/11 and carries a lanyard with a photo and name of one of the fallen responders.” says, Tiffany Goran, event participant and spouse of Columbia Missouri Fire Fighter Tommy Goran.

Date: Saturday, May 5, 2018

Location: University of Missouri Memorial Football Stadium/Faurot Field

Time: Registration begins at 6:30 am / Opening Ceremony starts at 8:00 am

This event is part of the Association of Stair Climbs and will benefit two organizations in our community that support first responders and their families in times of need. The first organization is Safety Net of Missouri which provides benefits to families of fallen responders.

The second organization is the Firefighter Cancer Support Network that offers education and support to firefighters diagnosed with cancer. Studies have shown that two out of three firefighters will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

The event is open to the public and you can register here. Many first responders will climb in their gear and the community is invited to participate or cheer on those who will be climbing.
