Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival-Hartsburg, MO

This weekend is time for the annual Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival when Hartsburg swells with visitors from all over to enjoy all the activities the festival has to offer. This year expect to enjoy local arts and crafts, music and food along with a variety of pumpkin activities.

The event features 150 craft vendors, a petting zoo, pony rides, 15 food booths and of course pumpkins. The event will last from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday at 10:00, don’t miss the 2nd annual Cutest Baby Contest with age groups up to 5 years old.

This festival will is a great way to get ready for fall and you might even be able to get your holiday shopping started (or finished) with all the great vendors that will be selling their homemade items.

Paws in the Park-Columbia, MO

Paws in the ParkMake plans for you and your furry friend to attend Second Chance’s 14th annual Paws in the Park on Saturday, October 7. This free event will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Stephens Lake Park.

The event will include a canine carnival with games and prizes for your dog and a silent auction. Local vendors will be setup as well and a variety of food trucks will offer food items. The Dock Dog Diving Competition will also be held in the lake as part of this year’s festival.

On Sunday morning, a 5K race/dog jog will be held at 10:00 a.m.

Second Chance and other local animal welfare organizations will also have adoptable animals at the event. Second Chance is a privately funded animal rescue that helps find homes for pets.

Roots N Blues N BBQ FestivalThe Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival will span three days from Friday, September 29-Sunday, October 1 and offer a wide variety of music with more than 30 artists to entertain you throughout the event. Enjoy delicious BBQ to go with the music.

Shryocks Callaway Farms Corn Maze-Columbia, MO

Corn MazeFall is here and that means all kinds of outdoor fun is waiting for you at Shryock’s Callaway Farms Corn Maze. The corn maze just recently opened for the season so plan a visit soon to avoid some of the crowds that will come as the season progresses.

Grab your family and friends to spend an afternoon in the corn maze. You don’t have to end the fun there. The farm offers more fun at the big red barn, which offers drinks and snacks and a three-story gumball coaster. Watch your gumball travel through three stories of tracks and gadgets to reach the bottom.

Pumpkins will be available by the end of September and hayrides and campfires can be scheduled for groups to make a great outing. There is nothing like a day at the farm to get ready for fall. Hope you find your way out of the maze.

40th Annual Heritage Festival and Craft Show-Columbia, MO

Step back in time at the 40th Annual Heritage Festival and Craft Show this weekend. You will see history come to life watching tradesman and artisans demonstrate skills from the past dressed in traditional 19th century attire. Tradesman will be selling their wares and sharing information from the past with you while you observe their artistry.

Three stages will provide entertainment during the festival with music, dance, magic and more. Kids have their own area for fun with fun activities and crafts they will enjoy. Tours of the Walters-Boone County Museum, Maplewood House and Village at Boone Junction will be offered as well. No festival is complete without food so come hungry and plan to enjoy some delicious offerings from a variety of food vendors.

9th Street Summerfest Concert Series-Columbia, MO

Pick a show or two and grab a friend for this fun event. This weekend has two opportunities with shows on Friday and Saturday nights. On Friday, September 8, see Cody Johnson with opening acts Tanner Lee Band and Schuyler Prenger and the Dirt Road Junkies. On Saturday, September 9, Kip Moore will perform with opening acts Everette and Alec Davis.

Columbia Pet Expo

Columbia Pet ExpoCelebrate your canine or feline friend with the Columbia Pet Expo on Saturday, August 26th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Register for the 5K and then enjoy all of the activities that follow.

The event will be held at Stephens Lake Park and the cost is $15 for the 5K. There will be prizes for the top three runners who do not have dogs and the top three who run with their dogs. Vendors will be on hand to provide information and to sell pet-friendly products. This event benefits No Kill in Columbia Mo. It is also pet-friendly so bring your four-legged friends. Solar Eclipse 2017

Solar Eclipse

One of the biggest events ever to hit Columbia, MO will take place on Monday, August 21st with the total solar eclipse. The entire city and region is celebrating with numerous activities and events.

Spend the weekend in Cosmo Park for several exciting events. First, on Sunday, August 20th, participate in the Totality Run, a walk/run through Bear Creek Trail. The race starts at 9 AM in Cosmo Park at the skate park.

Enjoy a relaxing bike ride after you finish the race with the Totality Ride. Also starting at the skate park in Cosmo Park, the ride begins at 11 AM and travels through Bear Creek Trail to Oakland Park where there will be lunch and live music before heading back to Cosmo Park.

The Totality Music Fest is a free event held on both Sunday and Monday with a variety of performances both days. The event opens at 12:30 PM on Sunday and continues through the evening, reopening at 11 AM on Monday. See performances by The Bel Airs, Old Salt Union, the St. Louis Sprockets Stunt Bike Show and more. Food vendors will be in the park and there will be a beer garden.

Along with the fun events at Cosmo Park, many local businesses will be hosting special events for the eclipse.

Beauty and the Beast at Maplewood Barn Theatre

A staple of the Columbia community, Maplewood Barn Theatre is bringing to life one of the most fascinating tales ever told. Enjoy the enchanting tale of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the old barn on August 3 through August 6 in the open air theatre.

The show starts at 8:00 PM every evening with the box office open at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $12 for adults and with children under 10 and under just $3.
