Farm-to-TableThe first annual Columbia Grown Farm-to-Table event will take place on Saturday, April 7th beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Reynolds Journalism Institute on the MU Campus. This event will bring together farmers and community members for dinner prepared with a variety of local ingredients.

Start the evening with happy hour featuring a signature cocktail then be prepared to enjoy a four-course dinner prepared with locally grown food and complemented by beer and wine pairings. Live entertainment will create a relaxed atmosphere for you to mix and mingle. Local farmers and the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture (CCUA) will speak at the event to share the importance of eating local and embracing the resources surrounding you.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the live entertainment will conclude at 10:00 p.m. Tickets are $65 per person. This event is hosted by Vox magazine and the CCUA. Find out more information about this event here.

Easter Fun in Columbia

Easter EggsColumbia will have many opportunities for you to celebrate Easter this weekend with several fun Easter events around town.

Start at Columbia Mall for two fun events. JC Penney will host an Easter Egg Hunt in the children’s department at 10:30 Saturday, March 31. Don’t leave after the egg hunt. Instead, head over to Build-A-Bear Court for their Easter Extravaganza from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. There will be crafts, music, balloon art plus visits with the Easter Bunny.

If you haven’t had enough Easter fun yet, Douglass Park will host an Easter event from 12:00-1:15 with the egg hunt at 12:45. Indian Hills Park’s event will take place from 3:00-4:15 with the egg hunt at 4:00. Both events will include games, face painting and other activities as well.

Mid-Missouri Home Show

The 58th annual Mid-Missouri Home Show will take place this weekend on Friday and Saturday at the Parkade Plaza. The home show will feature a wide variety of home specialists including home builders, renovation experts, landscapers, furniture stores and more. This is your one stop shop for any home improvements you would like to make from the simple to the complex and everything in between.

Browse the vendors and a variety of ideas along with the latest trends in home improvements at the show. This is a hands-on experience that will allow you to see and touch things first hand instead of seeing it in a magazine or online. This is a free event and you can register to win a door prize at the event by visiting the welcome booth at the Mid-Missouri Home Show.

True/False Film Festival

One of Columbia’s most popular events, the True/False Film Festival will take place through Sunday, March 4, 2018. The festival showcases a wide variety of talents and includes musicians, filmmakers, artists and comedians.

During the festival, Downtown Columbia becomes a hot spot of activity with multiple venues hosting movies, shorts, entertainment acts and parties to promote the mission of the True/False Film Festival. The Festival features both fiction and nonfiction options spanning a wide range of topics that will entertain, educate and inform. Wedding Stroll, Columbia, MO

13th Annual Rootin’ Tootin’ Chili Cookoff-Columbia, MO

Chili CookoffMore than 50 chili teams come together at this fundraiser that is packed with chili, music and fun. Come hungry and plan to try all you can at the all you can eat 13th Annual Rootin’ Tootin’ Chili Cookoff.

Teams build elaborate booths, wear costumes and prepare some rootin’ tootin’ good chili while competing to be named the Grand Chili Champion among other awards. Tickets are $15.00 per person for those 11 and over while 10 and under tickets are free.

This event raises money to support youth involved in activities through the Boys and Girls Club of Columbia. The 2017 event raised more than $100,000.
