For all you book-lovers out there, here’s an event you’ll like – the Unbound Book Festival at Stephens College on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 10 AM ‘til 6:15 PM. For expedience, each category of literature will be featured separately – non-fiction, fiction, poetry, children’s, etc., making your choice easy to find, yet all in close enough proximity to facilitate enjoyment of all genres.
Not only will you find books, but important authors will be in attendance with discussion panels, book signings, and readings, which children should particularly enjoy. The children’s area of the Festival is located at Macklenburg Playhouse on the Stephens College Campus. Stephens College is very involved with arts, theatre and literature for children, and is one of the founders of the Festival.
The Festival will feature interactive events between authors, public and even authors interviewing other authors, with question and answer periods. The aim of the Festival is to raise funds to dedicate to the improvement of literacy throughout Missouri, with an ultimate goal of improving individuals’ quality of life. This is the inaugural event celebrating literature and writing in Columbia, one soon to become a favorite of citizens of the city and surrounding areas. Stephens College is located adjacent to The District, downtown Columbia’s rejuvenated and preserved historical and business section. Here opportunities for fine dining and shopping abound, providing a day-long pleasant diversion of literary appreciation and entertainment all in one easily accessible location.
Be sure to bring the entire family out and enjoy a day of literature, with an educational and inspiring celebration of books and writing, and then perhaps continue the enjoyment at one of The District’s fine restaurants. Don’t miss a day of fun for the whole family!
