Spring fever encourages everyone to get outside and celebrate one of the best seasons of the year, and a great way to do it is to spend a day in The District in downtown Columbia. Businesses celebrate along with us, offering special shopping deals and dining and entertainment values in the beautiful Historical area of downtown. The city of Columbia has made investments to preserve and develop the District over the last several years, and the result has encouraged restaurants, shops and other businesses to feature a shopping day to focus attention on new and established markets.
Some of the finest dining, hotels, entertainment and shops now occupy The District and offer a special day-long opportunity to discover all that’s available to residents and visitors to downtown Columbia. Whether your interests include sports, art, crafts or clothing and accessories, you will most likely find it in The District. Mid-Missouri’s finest dining establishments are located here within the one mile square District and offer everything from local to world-wide examples of dining favorites, and many participants in the Shop Hop day will feature special prices and discounts to patrons.
For visitors to Columbia, be sure to explore the Historic buildings and landmarks in and surrounding the shopping area and learn some of the history of Missouri and Mid-America. The District is bordered on three sides by two colleges and the University of Missouri, as well as the Historic District. The day offers something for everyone, be it history, architecture, apple donuts, or a wonderful spring day out of doors enjoying the chance to sample some of Columbia’s finest!
