The Columbia Art League kicks off their new exhibition “Off the Trails – Pathways and Passages” with a reception on Saturday February 27, 2016 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Columbia Art League building at 207 South 9th Street in Columbia.
The artists were challenged to explore new paths that inspire art through deviation from the usual pathways and even while lost (“Off the Trails”). Artists are encouraged to find inspiration in unfamiliar natural and geographical spaces, as well as to undertake interior psychological journeys (Pathways and Passages) to create artistically from what is to them, the unknown. The exhibition displays the result of interior and exterior discoveries along their journeys. Through these artistic interpretations of the unknown, the process of a greater self-awareness in the context of new unintended discovery results in expressions through art, and the exhibition displays that result of exploring the unknown.
Artists will submit 1-2 works to the jury for selection in any medium, and all works displayed will be for sale.
The Columbia Art League continues to foster an appreciation of art in the community and to support artists by providing to them a venue to exhibit and sell their works. The League enriches the community through connecting artists with art enthusiasts and by providing inspiration and creativity with themed exhibitions.
The reception offers an opportunity to the art-appreciating public to meet the artists and sponsors of the Exhibition. Don’t miss this chance to view and discuss works in the exhibition with the artists who created them, and perhaps find that treasure that speaks to you, as well.
