The Columbia Parks and Recreation programs for kids and adults, too, has some great activities for kids on Saturdays and weekdays as well. “Community Recreation primarily serves the citizens of Central Columbia but targets low-income families and “at-risk” youth. The majority of the programs are offered to the public at little or no cost.”
Saturday, December 26, 2015 the Armory has an Open Rec in the Game Room at the Armory Sports Center, 701 Ash Street from 9:30 AM until 1:30 PM. Kids can play pool, ping-pong, foosball, shuffle board, air hockey, Xbox360, safe darts, arcade games or watch movies. These activities are free for ages 6 and up. This program is great to keep the kids entertained and occupied during the holiday break.
The additional programs offered during various parts of the year include educational activities such as beginning sewing (for adults and children), karate classes, science clubs, Jump Rope Teams, flag lines, drum lines, sports – baseball and basketball, percussion and woodwind lessons, Qigong, “Reflections” Poetry Society, Hip Hop Dance Squads, dance and cheering squads, computer labs and more.
